You may remember that back in August, Featherstone Brewery pledged to spend 10% of bar sales on sanitary products for local learners. August is traditionally known as “Women’s Month” in South Africa, and we wanted to do something to support the young women of our local community. We chose to support the “Keep Our Girls in School” initiative, which provides sanitary products to school girls with the aim of preventing learners from missing school due to being unable to afford to buy their own.

With the help of the Rhodes University Community Engagement Division, we identified a school that would benefit from the drive, and on Monday the 29th of October, we delivered the sanitary pads to Nathaniel Nyaluza High School.

Despite the heat on Monday, with the temperature already almost 30 degrees at 9:00, the school was a bustle of activity, and the learners received the pads and the message to “stay in school” with bright smiles.
