When we first approached the Rat and Parrot about stocking our beer, they were quick to say yes. They knew a good thing when they saw (or should I say tasted) one, and being made in Grahamstown made it a no-brainer. However, management was skeptical of how well we’d do. “Craft bottles don’t really sell,” was their comment. “You have to get on tap.”
As a nano-brewery that wasn’t really an option from the get-go. So we launched with the bottles, and had a very positive response! The Grahamstown locals, and then the Arts Festival tourists, made it clear that they’ll buy our beer however they can get it.
Still, there isn’t much cooler than a freshly poured pint of local craft beer, so we’ve pulled out all the stops and made the dream of Featherstone Beer on tap a reality as quickly as we could. As of yesterday, the Golden Mole IPA has it’s own tap at the Rat and Parrot.
This is just the start, and we hope to be on tap at other venues in the not too distant future. In the meantime, get yourself to the Rat, grab your pint of Golden Mole (or a bottle of your other Featherstone favourite), and ask for a competition entry card to win yourself some Featherstone merchandise*.
